How to Prepare a Home Repair List Before Requesting a Quote
A short walkthrough turns scattered annoyances into a quotable list.
Walk the property room by room
Start at the front door and move through each room in order. Write down anything that sticks, wobbles, leaks, sags or is missing. Do not filter yet — small items are often quick to bundle into one visit.
Add detail to each line
For every item, note the location, what is wrong, and whether you already have the part.
- Room and exact location
- What is happening and when it started
- Measurements where a part is involved
- A photo of the area
- Whether you will supply materials
Rank the list
Mark items as must-do, would-like and optional. If the contractor's available time does not cover everything, the priorities are already clear.
Getting a quote
When you are ready, submit your project details and a local independent contractor will review the request. Availability, scope, materials, permits, required qualifications and pricing are confirmed by that contractor.
